New guidelines for toll plazas: If the wait time exceeds 10 seconds, no toll is charged
The new rules also prevent vehicles from waiting for more than 100 meters at toll plazas, ensuring a smooth flow of traffic.
According to the most recent information from the Ministry, waiting times at toll plazas have decreased dramatically since the FASTag was implemented. Furthermore, if a line of waiting cars stretches for more than 100 metres for whatever reason, the vehicles will be permitted to pass without paying the toll charge.
As a result of the pandemic’s social isolation, an increasing number of commuters are electing to utilize FASTag, which eliminates the possibility of direct contact between vehicles and toll employees. 4 new toll plaza rules
- At toll plazas on National Highways, there should be no more than a 10-second wait time per vehicle, especially during peak hours.
- Consistent traffic flow at toll plazas by prohibiting vehicles from queueing for more than 100 metres.
- In each toll lane, a yellow line will be drawn at a distance of 100 metres from the toll booth.
- If there is a 100-meter lineup of waiting cars, the cars will be permitted to pass without paying a toll.
