Due to rising production costs, Maruti Suzuki hikes cars price from July
“This is to notify you that the cost of the company’s cars has continued to be negatively impacted due to an increase in different input prices over the last year,” Maruti Suzuki India Ltd said in a regulatory filing today.
As a result, the Company must pass on some of the above additional costs to consumers in the form of a price increase,” Maruti Suzuki India Ltd said in a regulatory filing today.
This is the second round of price increases for Maruti vehicles this year. The last time the automaker raised prices on a large scale was in April. “The price hike has been scheduled for quarter 2 and the increase shall vary for different models,” Maruti stated, without specifying which models will be affected.
Maruti Suzuki presently has 14 models on the market in India. Only five of these models are available through Nexa showrooms, the company’s premier retail store.
Before April, when Maruti was compelled to raise car pricing owing to identical circumstances, the company had imposed another price rise in January. Maruti car prices had been increased by up to INR 34,000 at the time.
According to PTI, a representative for Maruti Suzuki India said the firm has started operations while adhering to safety standards and exercising prudence.
However, as the Covid-19 and lockdown situations in various states begin to ease, many automotive manufacturers are resuming production to get back on track and re-establish normalcy. “We’re cautiously building up production while continuing to vaccinate all workers and their families on a priority basis,” the carmaker stated. “Over 36,000 employees have now gotten the first injection.”
