Apple Allows You Repair Your Own iPhone

Given the pressing demand and keeping in mind the comfort of its customers, Apple comes up with a special gift. It now gives the option of repairing iPhone by starting selling spare parts and tools to the common people. You can repair your phone at the ease of sitting at home (on your table) and as a result, you will not have to bear the pain of going to the repair shop or shedding extra money for the same.
This is going to start in the next year that is at the beginning of 2022. First of all, the US will be witnessing this and then later in the year, the UK and others. Moreover, those who will do it themselves and return the used parts to the company for recycling will be offered a credit towards their next purchase.
This self-service program will allow the customers to directly buy the required parts and perform the repairs themselves post-reading the manual. Other good things to know are they will be getting the parts at the same price as independent repairs shops do get, and after finishing the repair, on returning the used parts to the company, they will receive a discount (will help in their next purchase).
The step is also going to promote the eco-friendly concept.
Apple’s chief operating officer Jeff Williams believes creating greater access to Apple genuine parts will give their customers more choice if a repair will be needed.
According to Apple, the online store will see around 200 parts and tools for repairs initially. These will be addressing the problems with screens, batteries, and cameras on iPhone 12 and 13 models.
The program is expected to extend to Mac computers using Apple’s M1 chip.
Even in 2019, Apple began a program under which independent repair shops could buy its parts, tools, and manuals. This was to ensure the customers have more access to repairs. As per Apple, there were 5,000 directly authorized repair providers, and 2,800 independent shops were also added to the above figure.
Also, this is good news for non-Apple users. If a tech giant like Apple can take such a big initiative, then other tech companies may go for the same in the coming future.
