Iconic ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ Actress Bela Bose Passes Away at 80, Leaving Fans Heartbroken
Bela Bose, a renowned actress in Hindi and regional Indian cinema from the 1950s to the 1980s, passed away at the age of 80. She was known for her elegant dancing and acting skills and appeared in hit films such as Shikar, Jeene ki Raah, and Jai Santoshi Maa. She acted in more than 200 Hindi and regional Indian films.
The news of her death was announced by paparazzo Viral Bhayani on Instagram on February 21, and the cause of her death is yet to be disclosed.

She was trained in classical Manipuri dance form. Her passing is a significant loss to the Indian film industry, as she was one of its most famous actresses and dancers.

Bela Bose’s life and career
Born on April 18, 1941 in Kolkata, Bela Bose began her career as a group dancer in films while still in school to support her family following the demise of his father in a car accident. In the 1960s, she became a well-known actress and dancer in Hindi films and was among the three most prominent dancers at the time, along with Helen and Aruna Irani. She gained a considerable following for her charming and eye-catching club dance performances, among other things.
Bela Bose’s big break came from a dance performance she did with Raj Kapoor in the 1959 movie Mera Nashe Mein Hoon. Her first leading role came at the age of 21 when she played Guru Dutt in “Sautela Bhai.” She appeared in several films, including Bimal Roy’s Bandini (1963), F.C. Mehra’s Professor (1962), Amrapali, and Atmaram’s Shikar.
