Amazon India announced on 25th May that it has introduced a COVID-19 Relief Scheme (CRS), in which it would offer a COVID-19 payment and extra hospital compensation to frontline teams of associates working by recruiting agencies and other qualified employees.
The COVID-19 allowance is a one-time payment of INR 30,600 per employee for in-house COVID treatment, medical devices, or medication-related expenditures, according to Amazon.
If employees’ COVID-19-related hospitalization costs surpass their full insurance coverage, Amazon India will refund insurance-approved hospital expenses up to INR 1.9 lakh, it said.
Amazon India has stated that it is encouraging all of its employees and frontline teams to get vaccinated as soon as possible, and that vaccination is a “ready choice” for its employees.
The on-site vaccine events began with frontline workers and will soon be expanded to include all staff, according to the company.
For both doses of the vaccine, the firm is offering a special pay of up to INR 1,500 to all associates hired with recruiting agencies.
It also makes vaccinations available to its partners and staff through a variety of outlets, including reimbursements and easy access to hospitals.
The company recently announced that it would cover the cost of the COVID-19 vaccine for over 10 lakh individuals, including Amazon India staff, vendors, and associates, as well as its logistics partner network of Delivery Service Partner (DSP), associates, including Amazon Flex drivers, shop partners, trucking partners, and their qualifying dependents.
As India continues to struggle with the deadly second wave of coronavirus infections, a diverse range of organizations has stepped in to help with relief efforts, including medical oxygen, beds, and other services.

India recorded 196,427 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest daily increase since April 14, while Covid-19 deaths increased by 3,511. According to health ministry reports, the country’s cumulative caseload is now at 26.95 million, with gross deaths at 307,231.
