Assam floods: Indian Railways cancels 29 trains, here’s the latest updates
Assam is in the grip of landslides and incessant rains. It has also claimed the lives of at least 9 people and affected rail and road transport in the state. Roads and railway tracks have been submerged in water and many railway lines have also been damaged. Keeping in view the current situation, the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) zone of Indian Railways in a statement said that it has terminated/cancelled 29 trains due to floods and rains in Assam.
“In light of waterlogging and landslides owing to heavy rain, at km 113/4-5 between Jatinga Lumpur and New Harangajao, at km 131/1-2 between Bandarkhal and Ditokcherra sections, and other places in Lumding,” NFR said in a statement.

In the meantime, the Army and paramilitary forces have been called into action. They have rescued thousands of people alongside Assam’s disaster response force and emergency services, according to news agency PTI. More than 56,000 people have been affected by the floods, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.
According to the authority’s flood report on May 15, twenty-nine relief camps in the state are now sheltering 48,000 individuals. Floods in the state have destroyed 200 houses.
