Commonwealth Games 2022: 1.2 million tickets sold, India-Pakistan cricket match on July 31 & latest updates
More than one million tickets have now been sold for the Commonwealth Games 2022 to be held in Birmingham (city in England) and the remaining 500,000 tickets for 26 different sports and events are continuing to sell well ahead of the opening ceremony on Thursday, 28 July. The organizers said that the women’s cricket match between India and Pakistan has “really caught the interest” of the local public.

India and Pakistan’s match at the Edgbaston on July 31 will mark the debut of women’s cricket at the Commonwealth Games. The city has a large number of residents of Indian and Pakistani origin. Birmingham Games CEO Ian Reid said the semifinals and final tickets have already been taken while he expects a sellout crowd even for the India- Pakistan fixture.
The Games, which will feature more than 5000 athletes, will be the largest sports event to take place in the UK since the 2012 London Olympics. “We will have about 45000 volunteers and paid staff working on the event. It is a big event for the region and the city,” Reid added. In the multi-sporting event, all 72 Commonwealth members confirmed their participation.
Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games: India set to clash against Pakistan
Cricket has returned after 24 years in the Commonwealth Games. Earlier in 1998, cricket was given a place in this tournament. But this time only women’s cricket has been included. The match between India and Pakistan will be played on July 31 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. It will start at 4.30 pm Indian Standard Time.
