Delhi acid attack: Flipkart in action against seller after DCW notice for ‘easy availability of acid’
Hours after the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) sent notices to Flipkart and Amazon regarding the sale of acid on Flipkart, the online e-commerce platform said it has “blacklisted” the concerned seller. Flipkart also said that it “closely monitors” and “removes” products that violate expected standards.
The news came after the police said that the suspect in the Delhi acid attack case had bought the acid through Flipkart. The 17-year-old girl has injury marks on her face and eyes. “We strongly condemn this unfortunate incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family.
The Flipkart marketplace platform closely monitors and removes products that violate expected standards. Strict action is taken against such vendors who are found engaged in selling illegal, unsafe, and banned products. The concerned seller has been blacklisted, and we are providing all possible assistance to the concerned authorities in their investigation,” Flipkart said.
Delhi acid attack victim suffered a facial burn, both eyes damaged, know health update
A boy threw acid on a 17-year-old girl on Wednesday (December 14) morning in Delhi’s Dwarka. The victim is currently admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where she is being treated. According to the doctors, when she was brought to the hospital on Wednesday, there was an eight percent burn injury. The victim mostly has burn marks on her face and neck.
The family members had told that there was a burning sensation in the eyes as well, after which the eye doctor had also examined the eyes. Doctors say that it will take time to tell how deep the wound is and how much damage it can cause. The team of doctors is constantly monitoring the victim and it will take 48 to 72 hours to know how deep the wounds are. Taking action in this case, Delhi Police has arrested 3 accused. The accused had ordered the acid from Flipkart.
The police are currently trying to find out through experts how concentrated the acid used was. For this, the police are currently waiting for the report. The police have arrested the three accused Sachin Arora, Harshit Agarwal, and Virendra Singh in this case. Sachin Arora is 20 years old and he does wallpaper work, while 19-year-old Harshit does packing work in a private company and 22-year-old Virender works as a generator mechanic.
According to the police, before the acid attack, Sachin had done complete planning with Harshit and Virendra. Sachin was sitting behind the bike and it was he who threw acid on the victim, Harshit was driving the bike, while Virender hid at another place with the mobile of the accused, so that the location of the mobile could be different in the investigation.
LG, Women’s Commission raised questions
Several women’s organizations, including Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Delhi Women’s Commission chief Swati Maliwal, questioned the availability of acid in the markets despite the ban. Apart from this, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked how the accused could muster so much courage.
