For chatbots and Conversational AI agents to perform best, they need well-defined goals of conversation. Voice-based AI assistants like Amazon’s Alexa, Google’s Assistant, Microsoft’s Cortana, and Apple’s Siri have become quite popular lately. The era of human and machine structure first time started with Apple’s Siri and went absolutely good over the human-like qualities for the application.
After that, Amazon’s Alexa came into the picture, a virtual assistant AI that was firstly available in the Amazon Do= and Amazon Echo Dot speakers. However, all these smart AI agents aren’t really conversational. Additionally, they will tell you about the weather, answer your questions about the news and web, play songs for you but it’s not conversational. None of these were conversational. Although they can answer general questions but you never feel really conversational.
On the other hand, Google Meena is a neutral network that has about 2.6 billion parameters. Google presents Meena, a multi-turn AI system that open-domain chatbot. It is trained as end-to-end on data mined and filtered from the public domain to social media conversations. The 2.6 Billion parameter neural network is all about minimizing perplexity, and an automatic metric would be compared against the human judgment of multi-turn conversation quality, a blog by google states.
Google acknowledged in its blog that open-domain chatbots that are already in the market have some critical flaws and they do not have common sense and basic knowledge about the world.
The blog by Google states, “Towards a Human-like Open-Domain Chatbot”, they will present Meena, a trained neural conversational model better than any voice assistants right now. They show that Meena can conduct conversations that are more sensible, reliable and specific than existing voice assistants chatbots. Such improvements are reflected through a new human evaluation AI assistant – Google Meena.
