You can now ask Google to remove phone numbers & other info from search results
By Sanjay Maurya
Google has revealed additional options for eliminating personally identifiable information from search results, such as your phone number and address. For those who don’t know, Google has previously allowed users to request the removal of sensitive, personally identifiable information from their search results. Information such as bank account numbers or credit card numbers, for example, could be used to commit financial fraud. People can now request the removal of other types of information from Search results, such as personal contact information including phone number, email address, or physical address, according to the company.

How do I ask Google to remove my personal information?
To get started, visit the Google site. The page will ask you to enter the URL addresses of websites that contain the information you want to remove from Google’s search results.
According to Google, you will receive an automated response confirming that your request was received. Following that, the search platform will examine the request and may request additional details. For example, if a site URL is missing from the request, it will prompt you to correct it and resubmit the application.
Next, Google will let you know if it takes action. For example, it may remove site addresses from all search queries, or it may remove them from specific queries that include your name or other personal data.
Google will remove personal information
- When someone requests the removal of a piece of information, the company will evaluate and examine all content on the web page.
- The search results will ensure that the availability of other information is “widely useful” and is not limited.
- Google will not remove the contact information that appears on government websites.
