Wedding Season 2021: Delhi to have 8000 weddings on November 21
By Sanjay Maurya
The wedding season in North India is slated to begin on November 15, with an estimated 25 lakh weddings taking place between November 14 and December 13. With restrictions on gatherings loosening across the country, observers anticipate the great Indian wedding season to return with a flourish. Weddings in certain states are now allowed to include up to 250 guests.
The number has been set at 200 in Delhi, while officials in sections of the NCR have imposed 50 percent capacity limitations. Venues in Mumbai are also permitted to run at 50 percent. Rajasthan will only be able to accommodate 200 people.
Weddings are expected to create revenue of INR 3 lakh crore in only one month, according to the CAIT trade organization. Traders estimate that a business of INR 50,000 crores will be produced in the national capital alone.

Heavy Saaya days are fully occupied, thanks to a small number of Covid cases in Delhi and a guest list currently restricted to 200 persons. While many weddings will take place in the Capital in the second half of November, 21ST November is the day when around 8000 weddings will take place.
The dates of November 18-20 are completely booked for parties, with weddings on November 21. The venues have all been booked for this day since October, says wedding planner Sumathy Bachchan, who adds, November 21 is the most auspicious day of the year. On this day, I have five weddings scheduled, as well as a friend’s wedding in Delhi. As a result, everything will have to be worked out. We put a halt to additional orders for that day last month.
Jea Band’s Anil Thadani says they’ve had to arrange more weddings than usual this year, on that day, there are roughly 7000-8000 weddings in Delhi. We usually schedule six to seven weddings per year, even on a busy Saaya day, but this year we have booked ten weddings. Some of these weddings were originally scheduled with us but were postponed owing to Covid limitations.
People are also terrified about the third wave and wish to marry before the number of instances increases. He says, “Ye Waqt Esa Hain ki Sabbko Abhi hi Karni hai Shaadi, Unhe dar Hain ki third wave aa Gayi Toh kya Karenge”, (These times are such that everyone has to get married now, they are afraid that if the third wave has come, what will they do.)
According to Anam Zubair of WeddingWire India, a virtual brand that links providers and clients, obtaining a quality location is becoming increasingly challenging. It’s tough for couples to find a suitable spot on that date. The majority of the preferable locations have already been reserved for a half or full-day. Suppliers are also finding it difficult to keep up with demand, which is fast increasing.
