OYO announced on Thursday (May 4) that it will double the number of properties available for the Char Dham Yatra 2023 in Uttarakhand due to an increase in demand from pilgrims. The company currently has 40 hotels in six locations in Uttarakhand: Rishikesh, Haridwar, Srinagar, Kedarnath, Joshimath, and Uttarkashi. The number of hotels will be increased to 80.
The Uttarakhand Dham Yatra is a religious pilgrimage that includes visits to four sacred shrines situated high up in the Himalayas: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. It attracts millions of pilgrims from around the world every year.
According to the Uttarakhand government, 1.6 million devotees have already registered for this year’s Yatra, and the number is expected to rise in the coming months. OYO has also seen a 206% increase in bookings for the Char Dham Yatra compared to the same period last year.
Srinagar in Uttarakhand has seen the most bookings for the Yatra, with a year-on-year increase of 186%. Rishikesh and Haridwar follow closely behind. Despite the challenging weather conditions this year, Indians are still keen on taking the holy pilgrimage for spiritual enrichment, the company said.
An OYO spokesperson said that by doubling the number of available properties for the Yatra, they aim to provide affordable, comfortable, and reliable accommodations to pilgrims throughout their journey.
In conclusion, OYO’s decision to double the number of properties for the Char Dham Yatra 2023 in Uttarakhand is a testament to the increasing demand for affordable, comfortable, and reliable accommodations for pilgrims undertaking the spiritual pilgrimage. With a significant increase in bookings compared to last year, OYO is well-positioned to meet the needs of the millions of pilgrims who will visit the four sacred shrines in the Himalayas. As a result, pilgrims can focus on the spiritual aspect of the pilgrimage without worrying about their accommodation needs.
