Apple WWDC 2023: Check if Your iPhone and iPad Are Eligible for iOS 17 Update

Apple unveiled iOS 17, its latest operating system for iPhones, during the opening day of its developer’s conference. This update brings enhancements to the Phone, FaceTime, and Messages apps, improving the overall iPhone experience. Additionally, iOS 17 introduces AirDrop for easier sharing and intelligent input features that enhance typing speed and accuracy.
One notable feature in iOS 17 is Standby, which provides a new way to access glanceable information when the iPhone is placed on a charging dock. Another exciting addition is the Journal app, designed to facilitate gratitude practices and offers new experiences to users.
Currently, the developer beta version of iOS 17 is available exclusively to members of the Apple Developer Program. The public beta is scheduled for release next month. The software update, containing all the new features, will be offered as a free update this autumn to iPhone Xs and newer models. Below is a list of eligible iPhones for Apple iOS 17:

In addition to iOS 17, Apple also introduced iPadOS 17 for iPads. This latest operating system brings a revamped Lock Screen and interactive widgets to Apple tablets. It also introduces intelligent enhancements for working with PDFs and Notes. Furthermore, the OS includes updates for Messages, FaceTime, and Safari, along with the introduction of the new Health app.
Apple iPadOS 17 is compatible with these devices:
- iPad Pro (2nd generation and later)
- iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
- iPad (6th generation and later)
- iPad mini (5th generation and later)
Members of the Apple Developer Program have access to the developer beta of iPadOS 17, while the public beta will be made available to iPadOS users in the coming month.
