The Jalan Kalrock Consortium, the winning bidder for bankrupt Jet Airways, has successfully obtained the renewal of the Airport Operator Certificate (AOC) for the airline from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This significant achievement now paves the way for the grounded passenger carrier to resume its services in India.
With the AOC renewal, the Indian Aviation Regulator reaffirms its confidence in the revival of Jet Airways, as stated by the airline itself.
Expressing their appreciation, the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium conveyed its heartfelt gratitude to the aviation regulator, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and all other stakeholders for demonstrating their unwavering faith in JKC and the revival of Jet Airways.
The Jalan and Kalrock Consortium underlines its unwavering dedication to the revival of Jet Airways and pledges to implement a comprehensive strategy to ensure the airline’s success. In the weeks ahead, JKC will continue to collaborate closely with all relevant authorities, industry partners, and stakeholders in its mission to restore Jet Airways.
Jet Airways, established in 1993, became synonymous with premium air travel for discerning travelers in India. Before suspending operations in April 2019, the airline served over 65 destinations in India and worldwide, operating 124 narrow and wide-body aircraft.
Reviving under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code through the National Company Law Tribunal, Jet Airways’ resolution plan by the Jalan Kalrock Consortium was approved. Notably, this marks the first instance in Indian aviation history of an airline being revived under its original name after a prolonged period of grounding.
In its new incarnation, Jet Airways envisions itself as the country’s most customer-focused and friendly airline. It aspires to be a ‘smart’ full-service carrier featuring a two-class cabin configuration, which includes a business class cabin designed to global standards and an evolved new-generation economy class aimed at offering customers the utmost value.
