Speaking at the B20 summit, N Chandrasekaran, the CEO and Chairman of Tata Sons, emphasized that India is making significant strides towards achieving an average growth rate of 7 percent over the next decade. He highlighted various factors contributing to this momentum, including the PM Gati Shakti initiative, PLI schemes, corporate tax reductions, digital public infrastructure, and the flourishing startup ecosystem. Chandrasekaran pointed out that these initiatives are instrumental in maintaining India’s positive trajectory among the G20 nations.
In his address, Chandrasekaran also drew attention to India’s noteworthy achievements in the field of space exploration. He specifically mentioned the successful mission of Chandrayaan-3 and the remarkable feat accomplished by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He underlined that the landing of Chandrayaan-3 has transformed the moon into a symbol of accomplishment for many Indians, signifying tangible achievement rather than mere aspiration.
Chandrasekaran expressed his confidence in India’s pivotal role in global economic dynamics. He highlighted the three critical transitions the world is currently undergoing: the digital and intelligence transition, energy transition, and global value and supply chain transition. He stated that India is well-positioned to lead in all three of these transitions, owing to its strategic policies and favorable business environment.
Speaking at the B20 summit held in New Delhi, Chandrasekaran revealed the outcomes of extensive policy advocacy sessions. He shared that these sessions resulted in a comprehensive set of 54 recommendations and 172 policy actions, spread across nine teams. Among these recommendations, the theme of inclusion emerged as a priority, encompassing access to finance, equitable development, and education. Chandrasekaran also emphasized the importance of gender diversity and proposed financing strategies to support global recovery, particularly for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Looking ahead, Chandrasekaran announced the establishment of the B20 Global Institute, a knowledge hub and thought leader platform. This institute is designed to champion positive change and serve as a repository of expertise, comprising experienced professionals who will collaborate with B20 nations annually. The institute, headquartered in India, aims to ensure the continuity of recommendations and maintain their relevance over time.
