Ablion is an IT Service provider specialising in web and mobile technologies. Key services of Ablion include Web Design, Mobile Application Development, Software Development, Cloud Application, Search Engine Optimization, and many more. Founded by Pratik Dutta, Director, the company has worked with over ten thousand international clients since its inception in 2004. It has multiple successful SaaS products in different verticals like EdTech, CRM, Accounting, Retail, etc.

One of the products Ablion takes pride in is Twib, a sales management application for field employees. Managing Field sales employees is a tricky job for managers as well as owners. Pratik faced similar challenges in keeping the sales process organised with employees working outside the office. This gave him the idea to develop Twib, a sales process management app focussed for field sales employees to keep their sales process organised.

The life of an entrepreneur is not without the daily challenges they face from multiple aspects of the venture: the clients, team members, the economy, the authorities, among others. The challenges are endless, but one that has been prominent for Ablion is building a team. Located in a small town in West Bengal called Burdwan, Ablion is easily the biggest company there. However, being established in a small city makes it harder to find the right talent for the team.

The candidates who do seem to be the right fit are often looking for opportunities to relocate to places like Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore. It has been a constant challenge for Ablion to scale up with the right talent from this city. The lockdown following the pandemic forced everyone to stay home and gave birth to the work from home business model, which Ablion has used to its own advantage. Currently, the company is in the process of building a remote high-quality team where geography is no restriction. Whether it succeeds or not, only time will tell.

About The Entrepreneur
A strong believer in constant improvement, Pratik spends at least one-hour daily on learning new and diverse things. He finds it of a great motivational value that he is constantly becoming a better version of himself every passing day. Asked how he handles situations when things don’t go his way, he answers, “When things are not going your way or things become too difficult to handle, on those days believe in yourself and hope for a better future, and keep doing your job to the best of your ability since that is the only thing that is in your control. A strong belief in this helps me keep going.”

 For Pratik, the satisfaction of being able to help thousands of people in building solutions to their problems is a reward in itself. Be it developed a college admission system that makes it easier to recruit students, or ERP for local government that facilitates in tracking trade licences, issuing death and birth certificates, Pratik finds it rewarding to know that he and his team have contributed to society. All of this while doing what he loves to do the most and still giving back to society.

At Albion, there is a pretty homely work culture. A vast number of the team members have been with the company for almost a decade, making it a closely-knit and effective enterprise. It is a sincere belief of the leadership at ABLION that attitude is as important as the skill set of an employee. While hiring they put more emphasis on their attitude than on their skill sets because Pratik believes, “You can teach skills but it’s very hard to teach attitude unless that person is willing to learn.”

 Pratik is a big believer in the concept of leading from the front, and thus motivates and inspires the team with direct actions instead of articulated orders. His leadership style entails giving the learner the full authority to execute whatever responsibility has been taught to them. At times he allows them to make mistakes so that they can learn from it, as there is no greater teacher than our own mistakes. He encourages his team to contribute to team meetings with their ideas and opinions, includes them in company decisions, and makes sure that everyone is involved and the decisions taken are uniform.

“If clients are with you, your team trusts you and has faith in your vision then you grow yourself along with your team and your clients. That’s success for me.”

Pratik believes that being an entrepreneur demands two crucial skills: the ability to make the right decision by identifying what the future holds, and to execute your ideas properly, as there are millions of ideas but hardly many people go through with them and those who do 99% of them are not able to execute them properly.

Future Plans and Prospects
Pratik has moved from day to day activities, which are currently being handled by the very trusted team members, and is moving more towards planning and strategy making, and mentoring the new members of the team. About to launch his first book, this year, Mango People, which he has been working on for the last two years. He is also planning to launch two more books within the next few years.

 The Director at Ablion is a long term person, so every action of his focuses on long-term impacts and relationship building. Being in this field for over two decades has made him realise that there is no shortcut to success. One has to put in the effort day in and day out, to reach their destination.  “Always remember that no matter what the situation is, the only thing that is in your control is your actions, so be sure to make the most out of it, to achieve the desired outcome from any situation,” concludes Mr. Dutta.
