Amazon India: 70,000 Amazon sellers export goods worth $3 billion

Indian sellers reached the $3-billion mark for Amazon
On Thursday, Amazon India said, “Our medium & small merchants on its stage has been sold products worth over $3 billion to foreign clients since in 2015 the Amazon started its Global Selling Programme.
Amazon India has digitized 2.5 million micros, small & medium businesses (MSMEs), and created nearly 1 million jobs in India.
Amazon’s Global Selling Platform in India has 70,000 exporters registered with the company. Amazon has hit cumulative exports worth over $3 billion. With a great Indian product namely STEM toys, tea, bed linen, healthcare, jewelry, leather, etc. the firm has seen a pick up in the export’s momentum.
The last billion-dollar came in a year while the subsequent billion came in a year and a half, while it took 3 years to get to the first.
Amazon’s Global Selling program is currently operational in various markets, Amazon has helped 70,000 medium & small sellers to reach 17 international markets. US in one of the best markets for Amazon India.
Country Head & Global Senior Vice President of Amazon, Mr. Amit Agarwal said, “as we still working with country small & medium businesses, we stay focused on raises new tools, technology, & innovation that will unleash the entrepreneurial spirit of Indian businesses, raise exports from India, and help build-up jobs at scale and contribute to the vision of an “Aatmanirbhar Bharat Mission“.
In 2015, Global Selling Program was started in the country, add 10,000 sellers in the previous year even as it plans to reach $10 billion in cumulative exports by the year 2025.
The company likewise said that with above 2.5 million MSMEs working with Amazon India including sellers, weavers & artisans. The focus is to improve online selling for small and medium businesses. Since January 2020, Amazon India has added almost 250,000 new merchants.
