Amul To Soon Launch Its ‘Fresh Milk’ In The U.S: First In The History

The world’s largest dairy cooperative- Amul is set to be the first to launch its “Fresh Milk” range in the United States. Amul’s parent company Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) in collaboration with 108 years old Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) will start its production in the coming week, to supply milk from its “Fresh Milk” range in the four states of the U.S.
Established in 1916 Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) is America’s 10th largest farmer- owned dairy cooperative, owned by farmers from Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Indiana.
Amul is the world’s largest cooperative milk federation founded by Verghese Kurien in 1946, and is owned by more than 36 lakh dairy farmers across India.
Amul has been exporting milk and milk products to the U.S and 50+ other countries from India for the last many decades, but this is the first time when Amul will supply milk from its fresh milk category.
Initially Amul will launch its fresh milk in Indian grocery stores and marts located in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Washington, Texas, Dallas, and a few other regions from the East coast and Midwest.
(GCMMF) MD Jayen Mehta told PTI that the (MMPA) will use their recipe for the production and the marketing will be done by Amul. At first Amul will launch four products which are also available in the Indian market including, Amul Taaza (3% fat), Amul Gold (6% fat), Amul Shakti (4.5% fat), and Amul Slim n Trim (2% fat) in half and one gallon packaging.
Jayen Mehta told PTI, Amul will launch more milk products like curd, Paneer, and buttermilk in the future to fulfil the demands of Asians and Indian Diaspora living in the U.S.
Amul has historic ties with the Michigan, Verghese Kurien father of white revolution in India, completed his bachelor’s in physics from Michigan State University in 1940.
