On August 11, 2021, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will debut the transportation department’s “faceless” services, which will allow individuals to apply for a variety of transportation-related services from the comfort of their homes.
According to a department order dated July 7th, the Delhi government is bringing all of its Transport department’s driving licenses, registration 4, and permit-related services online, and four motor licensing offices will be closed.
All services are now faceless, except for permanent driver’s licenses and vehicle fitness, meaning applicants do not have to visit transport authority offices, according to Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot.
The ‘faceless’ services such as: –
- Renewal of driving license
- learning licences
- Transfer of ownership
- Duplicate registration certificate
- International driving permit
- Change of address
- Fresh vehicles permit (goods and passenger vehicles)
- Many more.
Applicants can use the services online with or without an Aadhaar number, according to standard operating procedure (SOP). People will be able to apply for and obtain various documents such as registration certificates and registration for a learner’s driving license test without having to visit a Motor Licensing Office (MLO).
Applicants who provide their Aadhaar number will receive an OTP on their Aadhaar-linked mobile number. According to the SOP, there will be no necessity to upload any documents. The applicant’s driver’s license, registration certificate, and permit will be sent by speed post and will be available for digital download via an SMS-based link sent to the applicant’s registered number.
According to the SOP, the documents can also be downloaded through the Digi-locker or mParivahan websites. The state Transportation Department has set up helpline number 1076.
Applicants who do not have an Aadhaar number or who do not wish to give their Aadhaar numbers voluntarily due to privacy concerns will be able to complete online applications by uploading the appropriate papers, as well as a photo and signature, as required by the specific service.
