Bengali actor Abhishek Chatterjee passes away at 57

Bengali actor Abhishek Chatterjee passed away on Thursday (March 24). According to reports, he was at his home when his health started deteriorating and he suffered a heart attack. The family has yet to ascertain the cause of Abhishek Chatterjee’s death. The Bengali film Pathbhola (1986), directed by Tarun Majumdar, was the actor’s debut. He has worked with many well-known Bengali actors, including Sandhya Roy, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Tapas Paul, and Utpal Dutt, throughout his career.

He is thought to have died of a heart attack in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to ETimes, the actor was on set shooting his TV show Ismrat Jodi when he was feeling unwell and threw up on the set. As Chatterjee refused to go to the hospital, the crew on the sets gave him first aid and then took him to his home. Later, his family called a doctor, who gave him some medicines at home. But unfortunately, he died later that night.

As news of Abhishek Chatterjee’s death spread across social media, fans took to social media to pay their tribute. Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal’s Chief Minister, also expressed her sorrow on Twitter. “Sad to know of the untimely demise of our young actor Abhishek Chatterjee. Abhishek’s performances were talented and varied, and we will miss him. It’s a huge loss to TV shows and the film industry. My heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends”, she tweeted.
Abhishek, who has appeared in many successful films, is currently appearing in the Bengali television series ‘Khorkuto,’ alongside Trina Saha and Koushik Roy. Tollywood is shocked by this news. Laboni Sarkar, Gourab Roy Chowdhury, Trina Saha, Koushik Roy, and many more have expressed their sorrow over his untimely death.
