COVID-19 Cases Continue to Rise in Delhi, Positivity rate surge to 5.70%

On Wednesday (April 20), the national capital saw a sharp increase in new COVID-19 cases, with 1,009 positive cases reported in the previous 24 hours. In addition, the city’s positivity rate increased from 4.42 percent on Tuesday to 5.70 percent today. According to the data provided by the city health department, there was one fatality. The cases have increased by 59% from Tuesday which was 632. Despite the lower number of tests, the positive rate increased to above 5%. According to the reports, 9,581 COVID-19 tests were conducted today.
The total caseload increased to 18,70,692 with the new cases, while the mortality toll remained at 26,161. The total number of active cases was 2,641. In-home isolation, there are 1,578 COVID-positive cases and 54 Covid patients admitted to hospitals. On Monday, the city reported 501 cases, with a positive rate of 4.21 percent, compared to 517 cases on Sunday. According to the health authorities, the positive rate has surged fourfold in the last five days.

Delhi Schools will continue physical classes
According to the administration, physical classes will continue in schools, but it will be necessary to issue SOPs for better management. There will be no restrictions on the social gathering, but all types of gatherings will be closely monitored.
