Delhi’s Finance Minister: Presented Budget 2024-25

With the theme of “Ram Rajya ”, Delhi’s Finance Minister Atishi presented Delhi’s 2024-25 Budget in the State Legislative Assembly on Monday, March 4, 2024, before the commencement of 2024 lok sabha elections.
While presenting the Rs.76,000 crore budget in the assembly, Atishi emphasised AAP(Aam Aadmi Party) governments work over the last decade.
Presenting her first budget as the Finance Minister of Delhi and AAP governments tenth budget she mentioned Rs.16,396 crore have been allocated to the education sector.
After the arrest of Manish Sisodia (who was the former Vice-Chief Minister, and Finance Minister of Delhi) last year in the Delhi Liquor policy fraud case by CBI. Finance Minister Kailash Gehlot presented the 2023-24 Budget and this year Aitishi tabled the Budget.

Let’s take a brief look at the key takeaway from the Budget 2024-25.
* Total of Rs. 76,000 crore has been allocated to the budget 2024-25. From which,
* Rs.16,396 crore has been allocated to the Education sector which is 21.57% of the overall budget. The Business Blaster program which until one operated in Delhi’s schools will be extended colleges and IIITD.
* Around 194 new ambulances have been bought in the past year. Budget states a 10.84% reduction in the healthcare budget, from the last year’s budget of Rs. 9742 crore to Rs.8685 crore in 2024.
* Budget session started from February 15 and will continue till March 8, this is the longest running budget session in the tenure of the AAP government.
* Along with the Budget Atishi has also announced the “Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojna” a Rs.2000 crore scheme, which aims to provide Rs.1000 to every woman above 18 years of age, every month.
* In her speech Atishi mentioned that the Free electricity and water scheme will continue in this financial year.
