Ahead of IND vs WI ODIs, Shikhar Dhawan, six others test Covid positive

The Covid-19 outbreak has affected the Indian team before the ODI series against the West Indies, which begins on February 6. During their mandatory isolation period, senior opener Shikhar Dhawan, reserve opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, and middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer have tested positive for Covid-19. Gaikwad has tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time in one and a half years. During the 2020 IPL, Gaikwad tested positive in the UAE. He was quarantined for 14 days at the time, missing the first half of the season in the Emirates.

Navdeep Saini, the net bowler, T Dilip, the fielding coach, B Lokesh, the security liaison officer, and Rajeev Kumar, the masseur, have all tested positive for coronavirus. Saini has been placed on the standby list. Meanwhile, Mayank Agarwal has been added to India’s ODI team by the All-India Senior Selection Committee. Mayank Agarwal’s appointment as Rohit Sharma’s opening partner indicates that team management is not considering Ishan Kishan or Venkatesh Iyer for the position.

IND vs WI ODI Series 2022 Schedule

The series kicks off on February 6 in Ahmedabad with India’s 1000th ODI match. It should be emphasised that all of the players had tested negative for RT-PCR when they left their respective cities for Ahmedabad. Positive cases are being handled by the BCCI medical staff, and affected people will be kept in isolation until they have fully recovered.
