In a bid to highlight its digital prowess on the global stage, India is set to showcase its indigenous digital stacks and apps at the upcoming G20 Summit, inviting delegates to explore the “Digital India” experience zone over the weekend of September 9 and 10.
The country’s flagship platforms, including Aadhaar, UPI (Unified Payments Interface), and ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce), will take center stage during the exhibition. In addition to these well-established digital services, delegates will also have the opportunity to explore a novel app called GITA. This app draws inspiration from the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita, offering a unique blend of spiritual wisdom and technology, according to a senior official from the Ministry of Information Technology.
The “Digital India” experience zone will provide access to a wide array of locally developed platforms, such as Digilocker, MyGov, and the Umang app, which is renowned for delivering e-governance services to citizens across the nation.
To streamline communication and enhance the G20 Summit experience, organizers have unveiled the G20 app, which was officially launched on Wednesday. This app serves as a comprehensive resource hub for delegates, offering multilingual support in five United Nations languages and five additional languages, including English, Hindi, German, Japanese, and Portuguese.
The G20 app is designed to provide detailed information about the various workstreams within the G20 and engagement groups. It offers virtual tours of the event venue, easy navigation, and real-time updates from social media feeds.
India’s active participation in the G20 Summit’s digital space reflects the nation’s commitment to harnessing technology for economic growth, governance efficiency, and cultural enrichment. With the introduction of innovative platforms like GITA, India aims to showcase its unique blend of tradition and innovation to the world, providing a glimpse of the nation’s digital future. As the summit approaches, anticipation is mounting regarding the insights and collaborations that will emerge from this dynamic showcase of digital prowess.
The G20 Summit is slated to take place on September 9 and 10, bringing together leaders from the world’s largest economies to address pressing global challenges and opportunities. India’s digital showcase is expected to be a highlight of the event, further solidifying its position as a technological powerhouse on the global stage.
