Winter Holiday’s Leads to Boost in Tata Groups’ Indian Hotel Chains

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) indicate a surge in reservations for the upcoming winter. Last year in the same period, business set to clock better, with many of its properties across top holiday destinations, including Rajasthan and Goa.As per prediction shared by Indian Hotels Company, occupancy levels, which have been gradually growing since ‘Unlock 1’, in the upcoming weeks it is expected that some properties may hit to 80 per cent.
A top company official said that the Mumbai-based company, Tata Group is going to open ‘Ten’ properties before the end of FY21, including three properties under the Taj Brand and one under Vivanta.
Indian Hotels Company signed contracts for eight new properties in the first half of the year, including two Taj Hotels in Puri (Orissa) and Shiroda (Maharashtra), and Four properties under Ginger. The new properties are lined up for the inauguration, including Vivanta in Thiruvananthapuram and others are the Taj Wellington Mews (Chennai), Taj Skyline (Ahmedabad), and Taj Chia Kutir (Darjeeling).
After the announcement of the second-quarter results of the hospitality chain on November 4, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Puneet Chhatwal, said to analysts: “In the short period of time, a lot of pick-ups occurred in business. In October, November, and December we have picked up a disproportionate amount of business, in the last three weeks”.
“Leading the way to the highest numbers of bookings is for leisure with properties in Rajasthan, Goa, Coorg (Kodagu), Shimla, and Rishikesh. For the Christmas Eve and New Year period, we are seeing a surge in bookings. And maybe the performance will go even better than last year,” added Chhatwal.
