Dr. Rita Vyas Nagarkar says that she started her business venture as it was her passion towards her work. She doesn’t consider her personal life different from her entrepreneurial life that is the secret to her success, fame, and money. According to the dedicated dignitary, entrepreneurial and personal boundaries become blurred for her because she is abundantly passionate about her mission. She is optimistic about going to work every single day knowing what she does will positively impact others. It is this enthusiasm, engagement, motivation and passion that encourages her to be more socially active and spend quality time with the family.

A MULTIDISCIPLINARY BUSINESS LEADER – DR. RITA VYAS NAGARKAR
Dr. Rita Vyas Nagarkar, the Founder and Director of Institute of Learning and Development, is an expert in Cross-Cultural Communication and has a PhD in English Linguistics, from City University of Hong Kong. She also attained M.A. from R. D. University Jabalpur, India and M.Phil. from the University of Hong Kong. She was conferres as an honorary professor at the Nishan Academy of maternal education, in Beijing, China, which is educating over 4 millions young mothers.
She incepted Institute of Learning and Development in 2001, with a belief that lifelong learning and continuing acquisition of knowledge and skills is the cornerstone of a person’s development. To provide courses on varied subjects to students from diverse background, she built a conglomerate of educators, course developers and researchers.
She holds the experience of about 25 years by being involved in teaching, research and consultancy. The Multifaceted entrepreneur is well-renowned for her teaching experience with students from tertiary and postgraduate to doctorate levels, and has also served as a trainer for teachers, corporates, civil servants and governments in Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, and other Asia Pacific region.
By far, Dr Nagarkar has attained several teaching development grants for her initiatives to contribute to curriculum development in schools in Hong Kong.
Securing an expertise in the ESL/ESP Curriculum, she was invited to be an Education Consultant for the Hong Kong Government’s NET Scheme for around 200 government as well as private schools. She has actively taught the native English teachers and local Hong Kong teachers on varied subjects from Cross-cultural Communicative competence in English teaching to ESL Curriculum Design.
Being a co-investigator in the CERG funded project titled ‘Food Labelling in Hong Kong: Public Policy and Discursive Practice’, she successfully organized multiple workshops for consumers, business owners on Food Labelling and Consumer Communication topic. Further adding to the list of accomplishments, she has also developed a strategic research agenda on a cross-cultural study of advertising communication that has concluded in the formation of an impressive collection of conference papers and two books that are under progress. Her exclusive analysis of TV commercials across cultures, has been well recognized on the international level.
The exemplary dignitary has presented numerous research papers in international conferences. She has also authored twenty-four English textbooks- ‘English for Careers’, which is considered a commendable work in Mainland China, as the books represent the culture and context accordingly. Her exclusive books have been included in the syllabus of the Vocational Training Institutes and Universities in Mainland China, since 2010.
She demonstrates competence, creativity and a lot of passion for research and teaching, and has been involved with UNESCO on various platforms.
Dr. Vyas Nagarkar has also attained membership in Entrepreneurship Education Network of UNESCOAPEID where she promotes entrepreneurial education with good practices and research. At present, she is performing with Southeast Asian Ministers of Education for infusing entrepreneurial spirit with science education at the college level. She is also active in corporate training and consultancy and serves as an instructional designer, trainer, and facilitator in Business communication, Cross- Cultural Communication, Soft-skills, English for specific purposes, etc.
Sharing the cultural nuances in Fashion Communication to the students around the world, she also conducts a global class- ‘Fashion Communication from a Cross-Cultural Perspective’. She has also offered a noteworthy and unique courses- Simplification of professional documents which is quite popular among professionals and governments.
With the noble intention of actively empowering the underprivileged section through education, she has offered over one hundred courses for free on the internet. This course offers soft skills for the workplace that is a must for successful career growth. Her extensive work correlates with Sustainable Development Goals to promote skills for employment, entrepreneurship, financial success, and life long learning opportunities for all. Her intentions of empowering the youth by assigning them with local SMEs and international agencies have bestowed her with a lot of appreciation.
She has worked in areas of SDG Target 4 in particular, that promotes Skills Development for work and life, and Entrepreneurship Education for all, SDG Target 8 (decent work and economic growth) SDG Target 10 (reduced inequalities) and SDG Target 11 (sustainable cities and communities).
Dr Vyas Nagarkar was honoured by the Women Economic Forum in New Delhi, in May 2016, with the ‘Iconic Woman of the Decade’ award for her philanthropic endeavours and significant contribution in the education sector.
