Lenskart Seeks $200M Investment From Temasek, Fidelity For $5B Valuation

Indian eyewear brand Lenskart is in talks with Singapore based investment company Temasek and U.S based finance to cement conglomerate Fidelity for an investment of $200 million through secondary share sales at a valuation of $5 billion.
Which is a significant increase from its previous valuation which is a 11-12% higher than its previous valuation of $4.5billion. If the deal gets inked Lenskart’s valuation will exceed three times that of New York based online eyewear retailer Warby Parker, listed on the NYSE (New York Stocks Exchange) in the late 2022 with a market capitalization of $1.55 billion.
As per reports , “Temasek is leading the $200-million round by putting in $125-150 million”. Adding to the statement they said, Temasek is an existing investor in Lenskart with 5.50% stakes while Fidelity will be a first time investor in Lenskart.
According to the reports, apart from Temasek and Fidelity’s investment, other early investors in Lenskart, may include TR Capital, KKR, and Avendus, may also consider. However, SoftBank, the largest investor with 16.5 percent stake, is not expected to sell any shares in this transaction.
While, Innovative zone could not confirm the authenticity of the news, as Lenskart CEO Peyush Bansal and spokespeople from Fidelity and Temasek have not yet announced anything officially.
