Microsoft India & Agriculture Ministry sign MoU to support digital agriculture

Microsoft & Centre sign pact to support digital Agriculture in 100 Villages
The agricultural ministry and Microsoft India have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement for a pilot project in 100 villages of six states to raised digital agriculture.
The greatest impact of Digital India is on realizing better market pricing and reducing transaction costs. Microsoft India will begin its pilot project in 100 villages in 10 districts of states namely Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh to develop a farmer interface for smart and well-organized agriculture, including post-harvest administration and distribution.
Microsoft has tied up for one year with CropData its local partner for Digital Agriculture in 100 villages. Digital Agriculture can help in providing data regarding soil variability, moisture and nutrient levels, rainfall variability, the timing of planting and harvesting, and market price volatility to farmers.
Narendra Tomar (Agriculture Minister) said, “the agricultural economy is like a backbone of a country. “Our agriculture sector has contributed positively to the country economy even in adverse conditions like coronavirus pandemic. Any loss to agriculture is a loss for the country. That’s why PM Modi has taken many tasks on a priority basis.”
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will play various task to support our country farming like make a better environment within the selected 100 villages in the country, increase farmers income, reduced the input costs, and make farming easy for selected 100 villages, and it will also undertake the same pilot project with public and private players.
The government statement said that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to provide a new shape to PM Modi’s vision to use modern technologies in the farming sector to make it more profitable and attract new generations towards agriculture.
