In 2013, Sushant Singh Rajput marked his entry into Bollywood with his debut movie “Kai Po Che!”. Following the success of his initial Hindi film, he appeared in several other movies. However, it was his portrayal of Indian cricketer MS Dhoni in the biopic “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story” that became a significant milestone in his acting career, garnering praise for his outstanding performance.
Now, seven years after its initial release, the film is ready for a re-release in theaters. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the movie also featured Kiara Advani, Disha Patani, Bhumika Chawla, and Anupam Kher.
MS Dhoni- The Untold Story to Re-Release
It was officially announced on Twitter that “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story” will make a comeback on the big screen on May 12, 2023. Star Studios shared a tweet that read, “Jab Mahi phir pitch pe aayega, pura India sirf “Dhoni! Dhoni! Dhoni!” chilaayega. M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story Re-Releasing in cinemas on 12th May (sic).”
In the movie directed by Neeraj Pandey, the late Sushant Singh Rajput played the role of the 2011 World Cup-winning captain, Dhoni, while Kiara Advani portrayed the character of Sakshi Singh Rawat, his wife. Anupam Kher played the role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s father, with Bhumika Chawla portraying his sister and Disha Patani playing the part of Dhoni’s late girlfriend.
The film not only celebrates Dhoni’s success and achievements but also showcases his unwavering perseverance and dedication to cricket. Dhoni’s journey has served as an inspiration to many young aspiring cricketers and sports enthusiasts in the country. The movie captures the essence of his life and presents him as a role model for the youth of India.
Sushant’s performance in the biopic earned him multiple nominations for Best Actor at that year’s awards ceremonies, making it one of his most significant career achievements. Sadly, Sushant passed away on June 14, 2020, when he was found dead in his Mumbai apartment.
Neeraj Pandey, the film’s director, revealed that the cricketer was “shattered” by the news of Sushant’s death. “I called Mahi bhai, as well as his best friends Mihir Diwakar and Arun Pandey. They were all very upset by the terrible news. Mahi bhai was in shock and shattered,” Neeraj told xtratime.in.
