First layoffs, then Musk’s ultimatum, and now hundreds of resignations forced Twitter to close its offices
Elon Musk on Wednesday (November 16) gave an ‘ultimatum’ to Twitter employees to either adopt the company’s new ‘hardcore work’ environment or leave the company. In such a situation, hundreds of employees decided to leave the company and resigned. After Musk’s ultimatum and the wave of resignations, now problems have increased for Twitter. Media reports are claiming that Twitter has temporarily closed its offices.

According to Bloomberg’s report, after the resignations, Twitter has now closed its offices till Monday. According to reports, a company memo said, “Please continue to follow company policy by refraining from discussing confidential information on social media, the press, or elsewhere.”
Why are Twitter employees leaving?
The employees decided to leave after Musk sent an email titled Ä fork in the road”on Wednesday (November 16). Musk on Wednesday sent out a Google form and asked employees to respond “Yes” by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday (November 18) if they wanted to become part of Twitter 2.0.
“If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below,” the email read.
Musk also noted that Twitter would need to be extremely hardcore, meaning employees would have to work long hours at high intensity. Shortly after the employees decided to leave with severance pay, Twitter sent an email saying it would temporarily close offices and disable badge access until November 21.
Musk did not anticipate the number of employees who would refuse to sign the pledge to work form and leave with severance pay, according to Guardian report. According to reports, he met with several of the senior executives to persuade them to stay.
Musk has come under fire for radical changes at Twitter, which he bought for $44 billion late last month. He had already changed the work-from-home policy, fired half of the company’s 7,500 employees, ended the “days of rest” holidays, and imposed long hours, all while his attempts to overhaul Twitter have faced chaos and delays.
