PAN card fraud: Here’s the process to check if someone has taken loan on your PAN
By Sanjay Maurya
For the past few days, lending company Indiabulls has been embroiled in controversies regarding its fintech platform Dhani. Individuals may use the app to get personal loans without putting up any collateral. To acquire a loan via the Dhani app, customers only need to give their PAN and Aadhaar Card data. However, several notorious elements are misusing the app to secure loans by illegally using the PAN cards of other persons.
Sunny Leone, a Bollywood actress, recently said that she was a victim of internet fraud in a tweet. Sunny Leone said that her PAN card was used to obtain an INR 2000 loan, which harmed her CIBIL score. To acquire a loan through the Dhani app, a user must provide their PAN and address evidence. When PAN cardholders checked their CIBIL records, they discovered that Dhani had given loans to unknown persons using their PAN data without their consent.
Several social media users complained this week that unexplained debts appeared on their credit reports despite the fact that they never borrowed money from Indiabulls-owned Dhani Loans and Services.
On February 15, fintech firm Dhani confirmed that it had received several complaints of loan fraud, where fraudsters obtained micro-loans using the PAN cards of the victims. Speaking to CNBC-TV18, the company claimed that it has taken immediate action in the matter. A spokesperson for Dhani said, “There have been a few cases where unscrupulous people have used PAN details of other people to avail loans through fintech operations on the app.”
To see if someone else has taken a loan on your PAN card, follow these steps:
By obtaining your credit score, you can quickly see if someone else has taken out a loan using your PAN number. Any credit bureau, such as CIBIL, Equifax, Experian, or CRIF High Mark, can provide you with information on loans carried out in your name. You can view your financial reports on fintech sites like Paytm or Bank Bazaar. To find out if someone else has taken a loan on your PAN card, simply enter your personal information, such as your name and date of birth, along with your PAN card number.
