Google CEO Sundar Pichai shares a formula to balance work from home and office

Working three days in the office and two days remotely, according to Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO gives employees a decent “balance” between the time at home and time with their coworkers. Long commutes were a big challenge for our staff even in areas like New York and San Francisco. As a result, I believe that a three/two model provides a better balance for people, Pichai remarked to the editor-in-chief of The Wall Street Journal.
Google’s CEO said the company was planning on a three/two model, with employees having two days a week to work wherever they want. This “flexible work week” was first announced by the Alphabet-owned corporation in December of last year.
It’s about getting the balance, Pichai said, adding that the three days will be crucial for collaboration and community. According to Pichai, Google plans to allow roughly 20% of its employees to work entirely from home in the future. As a result, it’s something we’ve been considering. We’re providing folks a lot more flexibility in terms of relocating to a new base. So, to embrace and incorporate flexibility, Pichai said that the company would “probably” invest in real estate to make it easier for teams to collaborate.
Pichai added that Google was “reimagining” its spaces to make them more collaborative and “exciting” after recently agreeing to a $2.1 billion contract to expand its “Google Hudson Square” complex in New York. Alphabet has postponed its office reopening until January 2022, and after that Pichai indicated that the business will let each local office make its judgments about whether or not to reopen. He estimated that between 20 and 30 percent of employees had already returned to work willingly, with 50 percent in New York. Pichai declared in October that staff will need to be vaccinated before returning to work.
