According to the new guidelines issued by Delhi Police, those attending the Republic Day parade should be fully vaccinated against COVID, and children under the age of 15 will not be allowed. At the programme on Rajpath on January 26, people will be required to follow all Covid-protocols, including wearing masks and keeping social distance. “Both doses of the anti-coronavirus vaccine are required.
Visitors must have their vaccination proof with them, the Delhi Police said. Children under the age of 15 are not permitted to attend the event, according to the statement.
The nationwide Covidvaccination campaign, which began on January 16 last year with health care and frontline workers, was progressively expanded to include everyone over the age of 18. Children aged 15 to 18 have been vaccinated since this month, and health care and frontline workers, as well as individuals aged 60 and older with comorbidities, have been given ‘precaution’ doses, because of the increase in cases due to the Omicron variant.
The Delhi Police tweeted the guidelines, said that the sitting blocks will open for people at 7 a.m., and requested that they come on time.
Because parking is restricted, visitors have been advised to use taxi or carpool. They must also have a valid identification card and comply throughout the security check, according to the statement. Police tweeted, “Each parking area will have facility for deposit of keys of remotely operated car locks.”
Over 27,000 police personnel were deployed for security duties in the national capital and counter-terrorism measures were intensified in view of the Republic Day, Delhi Police Commissioner said.
These personnel, such as assistant commissioners of police and inspectors, deputy commissioners of police, sub-inspectors. Commandos, Police personnel, officers of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have also been deployed, he had mentioned.
Mr. Asthana had previously stated that 27,723 Delhi Police officers, including 71 DCPs, 213 ACPs, and 753 inspectors, had been deployed throughout the city for the Republic Day Parade. A total of 65 CAPF firms are assisting them.
