We also look for luggage at the beginning of the flight, but not everyone has a good fortune or luck to receive it on the arrival in the good and required condition. Waiting for luggage to arrive at you can be very frustrating, especially when it is torn or your new bag appears in deplorable condition, or even worse – does not arrive at all.
An awful realization hits your jetlagged mind when you arrive red-eyed: and say my bag is missing! We all understand the pain. Lost luggage is the worst nightmare.

Go to the baggage claim office – Report Missing Luggage Immediately
This is the first and most important step and the absolute first thing one should have to do if your luggage doesn’t show up. Head immediately for the baggage claim office at the airline’s counter and explain your missing luggage situation.
Be sure you include the identification numbers from your claim tickets with you when you go there. After that file a report and accomplishes two majorly important things:
1) It lets the airline know they need to locate your bag
2) It creates a paper trail work that will allow you, if necessary, to receive any kind of reimbursement for items you purchase because of your missing bag can be luxurious.
Ask for a copy of the report you have filed, write down the proper mentioning of the name of the person who helped you during this situation. For getting a follow-up update to ask for the phone number (useful for follow-up and updates regarding luggage), and hold on to your luggage tickets properly during this time. Here are some important questions to ask while follow-up and airport authorities’ center:
- Can you locate my bag?
- On what number should I call for updates on my missing bag?
- How much time to expect an update from your company about my missing bag?
- If my bag is found, will your company pay to have the luggage delivered to me at my hostel/hotel/home?
Request Reimbursement for Your Checked Baggage Fee
Don’t lose your baggage claim tickets for making sure of your complaint. Most likely, you all must have paid a fee to have your luggage checked during your departure. Hence, this way it can be showed up on time is usually grounds for reimbursement of that fee.
Negotiate this matter with airlines immediately; as you cannot skip it to delay it for later so don’t miss an opportunity to do so later on in the process. Simply request a reimbursement file of your checked baggage fee along with the baggage tickets. Be Patient but Follow up
If the airline does not follow through with any of these steps, don’t let it off the hook. Continue to follow up with the airline and keep the record of your claim reports as requested. Don’t let your complaint die on the vine keep up the loop and be patient.
It is a fact that almost everyone who has lost luggage is disheartened at a point but they often gotten it back a day or two later. However, if your bag is truly off with the airline’s radar, then you should file a claim with the airplane authorities.
