Tesla ramps up hiring in India, with a focus on leadership and senior-level positions
As it prepares to join one of the world’s greatest emerging automobile markets, Tesla Inc. has begun recruiting for leadership and high-level roles in India. According to Bloomberg, the California-based electric car manufacturer is hiring for jobs such as director of sales and marketing and director of human resources. Meanwhile, a Tesla fan group claimed last week that the business had hired a senior legal counsel.Following CEO Elon Musk‘s response to a Tesla-focused blog that the automaker was in discussion with various Indian states to build an office, showrooms, research, and development center, and perhaps a plant, speculation was rife. On January 13, he reacted to the news, saying, “As promised.”
According to local media, Prashanth Menon, who has been with Tesla for around 4 years, was appointed as director for its India operations last month.
Before entering India, the corporation is also likely to closely follow statements from the Modi administration providing incentives to EV producers under the production-linked incentive scheme. Before making a big push into India, it is also waiting for further incentives for EV makers under India’s production-linked incentive scheme.
Manufacturing incentives will be increased each year under the PLI in a continual endeavor to entice the world’s largest companies to manufacture in India and sell to the rest of the world. Last month, India’s cabinet approved a proposal worth 181 billion rupees ($2.5 billion) to increase battery storage capacity to 50 gigatons hours.
Even as it pushes for an electric vehicle ecosystem, India is failed to extend a warm welcome. For example, a lack of EV charging infrastructure might be a significant barrier. Electric vehicle sales in the country now account for less than 1% of total vehicle sales.
According to the state’s chief minister, Tesla has chosen Karnataka for its first plant. Tesla has yet to respond. Other persons who are familiar with the situation indicated at the time that the manufacturer has been speaking with local officials for six months and is strongly considering automobile assembly in Bangalore’s outskirts.
