Veteran Actor Sameer Khakhar, Known for Memorable Roles in “Nukkad” & “Circus,” Dies at 71

Veteran actor Sameer Khakhar, best known for his roles in TV shows such as Nukkad and Circus, died on Wednesday (March 15), his brother Ganesh Khakhar confirmed the news. Sameer, who was 71 years old, had multiple organ failure, as well as respiratory and urinary issues. He was also known for his appearance in Salman Khan’s movie Jai Ho.

On Wednesday (March 15), news agency PTI tweeted, “Veteran actor Sameer Khakhar, best known for his roles in TV shows such as Nukkad and Circus, has passed away at age 71 due to multiple organ failure, says his younger brother Ganesh Khakhar.”

In an interview with ETimes, Sameer Khakhar’s cousin brother, Ganesh Khakhar, stated that Sameer had respiratory issues and became unconscious while sleeping. They called a doctor, who advised them to take him to the hospital. Sameer was put on a ventilator because his heart was not working correctly, and he also had urinary problems. He eventually passed away at 4:30 am on the same day.

The report stated that Sameer Khakhar died at Mumbai’s MM Hospital, where he had been admitted. According to reports, his funeral will be held on Wednesday at the Babhai naka crematorium in Borivali.

Sameer Khakhar was a well-known figure in both the TV and film industries. He acted in several shows, including Nukkad, Manorajan, Circus, Naya Nukkad, Shrimaan Shrimati, and Adaalat. He was last seen in Sanjivani, starring alongside Surbhi Chandna and Namit Khanna. Sameer was also renowned in Gujarati theatre.
