All previously verified blue ticks on Twitter accounts were recently removed, except for those belonging to premium Twitter Blue members. As a result, numerous famous people, such as Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, and others, lost their verified Twitter badges.
However, Twitter has now started granting blue ticks to accounts with over 1 million followers. As a result, famous individuals’ accounts are now receiving blue ticks next to their names for free, including those of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan.
Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, stated that this was done to ensure that well-known personalities are verified and distinguished from other accounts.
However, there were a few celebrities, who had taken a paid Twitter Blue subscription for blue ticks in the interim. These include names like Amitabh Bachchan, Jr NTR, SS Rajamouli among others. Kangana Ranaut also paid for a Twitter subscription last month, indicating that these celebrities are paying for their blue ticks. However, it remains unclear whether their verified blue ticks will be reinstated after their subscription ends or if they will continue to pay the fee.
On Friday, Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter and asked Elon Musk to restore his blue tick in UP style, “T 4623 – Hey there, Twitter! Are you hearing me? I just paid now. Restore the blue lotus (check) in front of my name so that people can recognise that it only belongs to Amitabh Bachchan. I have already made a request with folded hands, now should I fall at your feet?”

After getting the Twitter blue tick back, Amitabh Bachchan also showed his gratitude towards Elon Musk.

A Twitter Blue membership costs INR 900 per month for mobile users and INR 650 per month or INR 6800 per year for desktop users. Legacy verified checkmarks were Twitter’s original blue ticks that were given to notable figures, including organizations, as a way of identifying them as genuine and authentic.
