World University Rankings 2021: 8 Indian universities in Global 400, checklist

- A total of eight Indian institutions have made it into the top 400 institutions in the world.

World University Rankings 2021: 8 Indian universities in Global 400
According to the 18th edition of QS World University Rankings, three Indian institutes—the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), IIT Delhi, and IIT Bombay—have made it into the top 200 institutions in the world.
According to the rankings for 2022, the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru is the world’s top research institution, while the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi is a close second in the citations per faculty indicator.
In the QS study, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) received a flawless 100 for the citations per faculty indicator, whereas IIT Delhi received a 70 out of 100.
For the fourth year in a row, India’s top-ranked institute is the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. The institute, on the other hand, dropped four positions to 177 from 172 in 2021. IIT Delhi rose eight places to 185, from 193 in 2021, to become India’s second-best institution.
IIT-Madras rose 20 places to 255th position, while IIT-Kanpur rose 20 places to 277th position, up from 350th position the previous year. This time, IIT-Guwahati made its debut in the top 400, with a world rank of 395, up 75 places from the previous edition.
IIT Hyderabad was ranked in the top 600 for the first time, in the 591-600 range, while Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was ranked in the 561-570 Band.
Indian universities continue to face significant challenges in terms of institutional teaching ability. Only six of the 35 universities had improvements, while twenty-three saw falls. In the area of faculty-to-student ratio, no Indian university made the top 250.
“When institutions are adjusted for faculty size, IISc Bangalore is the world’s top research institution, receiving a flawless score of 100/100 for this criterion, according to the CPF index. According to the report, IIT Guwahati (ranked 41st for CPF) is also a top-50 research university.
