5 Techniques to Raise Your IQ
Intelligent Quotient or IQ is the measurement of reasoning abilities of a person. It is supposed to measure how a person responds to any questions through the information and logic he has. They also measure how well can people can solve puzzles and recall Information they have heard.
To assess a person’s IQ, researchers first test multiple people from the same age group to find the average level of intelligence for each group. Researchers collect data from each age group looking for what at least 70% of participants can do at their age. This testing gives researchers an information about Mental Age.
A person’s mental age is counted by their level of intelligence compared to others in the same age group.
How to calculate Intelligence Quotient
IQ= Mental Age/Chronological Age* 100
Say, if the mental age of a child is 12 years old but his chronological age is 10 then intelligence quotient is calculated by dividing 12 by 10 and multiply that number by 100. It will give an outcome of 120.
Techniques to improve Intelligence Quotient
01. Modify your schedule:
Modification in your daily schedule will challenge the brain activity to form new connections. Suppose, if you usually have a habit to use right hand, change it to left. Do not forget to add meditation in your schedule. It is the most suitable medium to reduce stress level and to enhance concentration level. As per the latest research, it’s been observed that meditation improves the flow of blood to brain.
You can practice meditation 30 minutes per day. You can also add coffee as a part of your daily schedule. But it is advised to talk to an expert first. Additionally, you can also start practicing regular aerobic exercises which will increase endorphins levels and improve your mood. Take an adequate sleep of 8-9 hours daily. Don’t push yourself quite high when you are tired because your brain can not function daily 100%.
02. Practicing your skills:
Try to build a reading habit. It could be science, physics, logic or anything of your own interest. You will have a better understanding of the world along with the improvement of vocabulary, logic and comprehension. It will also broaden the horizons and help you to challenge your brain with new techniques and skills.
You can also add problem solving games and puzzles in your day-to-day activities to challenge your brain. It will also enhance the cognitive function of brain. Repeating testing of brain doesn’t only enhance the cognitive abilities of brain but also encourages you towards a continuous learning process. You can also get new experiences to widen your knowledge. It could be visiting a new place or learning something new.
03. Change in regular diet:
Include plenty of protein in your regular diet as it boosts the production of neurotransmitter and enhances the levels of dopamine and norepinephrine. Including protein in your diet boosts the problem-solving skills. Avoid adding sugar in your breakfast as it leaves you lethargic and hungrier than before. You can add dark chocolates to your snacks as it is loaded with antioxidants and flavanols.
It is also a rich source of magnesium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin D and Vitamin E. Consume food rich in Vitamin B as it increases the flow of blood to the brain. Green, leafy vegetables, whole wheat, meat, eggs and cheese are the great source of Vitamin B. Avoid junk and processed foods. When you consume a healthy diet, it will certainly boost up your IQ level. You can also increase your brain power through intermittent fasting.
04. Do word puzzles and problem-solving games:
To keep your brain churning away at high speeds, make sure to do puzzles and games regularly. Download apps such as Lumosity, What saying, Quiz Up and other games that get your brain juices flowing.
05. Develop reading habit:
Education plays a pivotal role in increasing intelligence levels of brain. Reading science will eventually led to enhance IQ at a greater level. Science increases your understanding of the world which in turns improves comprehension, vocabulary, spatial and mathematical abilities and logic. You will challenge your brain by acquiring new skills.
Intelligence is not fixed. It can be enhanced by increasing neuroplasticity of the brain. Human brain is much similar to any other muscle in body. The more you exercise, the more powerful it becomes. New neuron connection develops inside our brain which results in increasing the IQ levels.
