From Germany, Hong Kong, the United States, Singapore, Dubai, London, and other nations, we have transported over 8,000 medical devices worth over 190 tonnes into India, an official said.
Several international organizations have entrusted Air India with transporting important materials, including Amazon, Temasek Foundation, Phillips, Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), and the World Hindu Council of America.
“We have plans to bring more such equipment in large numbers from countries where it can be procured by any government or private entity in the coming days,” it said. On Tuesday, India’s gross COVID-19 cases surpassed 2 million, with over 50 lakh infections added in just 15 days.
According to the health ministry, India reported the highest number of new cases and deaths in a single day on May 6th, with 4,12,262 new infections and 3,980 deaths in the previous 24 hours. This was the second time the number of infections surpassed 4,000, with 4,02,351 infections reported on April 30. The death toll has risen to 23,01,68, while the number of infections has risen to 2,10,77,410, according to health ministry data on 6th May.
According to data from the government’s Co-Win site, India, which has the world’s largest vaccine manufacturing capability, has only partly or completely immunized 9.5 percent of its 1.35 billion citizens.
