Invigorating Careers and Businesses with Promising Solutions
PLEASE WALK US THROUGH YOUR COMPANY PROFILE AND YOUR SERVICES.
We are a Bangalore-based manpower & process outsourcing organization. We are majorly into Recruitment Outsourcing, HR Administration Outsourcing, Employer Branding, Temp staffing and Contingency staffing. We help our clients improve business efficiency by reducing costs, improving productivity, accessing best practices, improving quality and cutting down the response time.
PLEASE BRIEF US ON THE KEY OFFICIALS OF YOUR COMPANY.
Everybody is a key person in our organization, just like the way a human body has 206 bones and all need to be working well for the body to function, every single person in our organization has his or her own importance. Having said that, Talent Acquisition, Finance and Compliance & HR Operations are our core teams & people who head these departments are the first among equals.
WHAT IS THE MOTIVATION TOWARDS BUILDING YOUR COMPANY?
Contributing back to the society, developing certain kind of a personality, outlook & thinking, amongst the youth of this country, while also creating wealth for all those involved were some of the key motivations behind building the organization.
HOW DO YOU FEEL YOU ARE DIFFERENT FROM YOUR COMPETITORS?
We do not have any competitors. What makes us different from those in similar lines of business is the fact that we own the objectives and goals of our clients. Sincerity, integrity, commitment, and consistency are not things that can be bought, & we are proud to be an organization to strongly possess those qualities. Our clients keep coming back to us for these reasons.
DID EVERYTHING COME EASY, OR YOU HAVE YOUR STORY OF STRUGGLE?
Nothing came in easy, but nothing was too difficult either. If it was ever difficult, it was always worth the struggle.
WHAT KIND OF CLIENTS DO YOU SERVE? ANY SPECIAL MENTIONS? HOW DO YOU INTEND TO MAINTAIN THEIR SATISFACTION?
Our clients are mostly multinational American/European technology product development companies. They are all global leaders in their fields. The question about satisfaction once again relates back to what I said about “owning”.
A lot of times, the reason why people stay in an organization for longer period is because the environment is cushy, workload is very manageable, salary is good, plenty of opportunities to travel on some pretext or other and thus the organization is almost like a retirement home.
Unlike those retirement homes, our organization is a place where employees are put to the test in a challenging environment every day. The employees eat what they kill. They are taught to thrive in tough, demanding and competitive work atmosphere that we believe promotes growth and resilience. Our people are a special breed. They love the environment and continue to achieve. Our low attrition rates, long tenure of core employees in the organization are stats that speak for themselves.
There is a sense of continuity, organizational intelligence & legacy knowledge, which the organization benefits from when the employees stay.
WHAT ASPIRES YOU TO BECOME BETTER THAN WHAT YOU WERE?
It is not an external motivation but only an intense burning desire that drives me. If you are not growing, changing or evolving, you are stagnating. which is another name for paralysis. And that’s not much of a choice.
DO YOU BELIEVE R&D IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE GROWTH OF THE COMPANY?
Not really if you are only into short-term money-making business. If you look at India, we invest not even 1% of our GDP in R&D. Let’s take the example of Pharma sector, there is hardly any investment involved in R&D. The R&D investment as a percentage of sales is still in single digits for Indian pharmaceutical companies. This is still well short of the 20% typical of Western pharma companies. Yet we have a lot of big names in Pharma making big profits.
But to be a global leader, set standards and to come up with products which the world craves & demands for tomorrow, investment in R&D and even more- an innovator’s mindset is necessary- one that is different from the Jugaad (Break-fix/ workaround) mindset. There was a time when Chinese products were associated with cheap, poor quality and non-durability. But China has been working aggressively to change that perception. According to stats, in 2021, China will be the No 1 country worldwide in terms of spending on R&D, with the expenditure exceeding 621 billion U.S. dollars. This comes from their desire to not be imitators or jugaad masters anymore but to be innovators.
HOW NECESSARY DO YOU FEEL IS IT TO KEEP YOUR EMPLOYEES’ CONTENT, HOW DO YOU ENSURE IT?
We are not in the game of contentment. Instead, keeping our employees challenged & motivated, empowered, fairly-treated & respected and keeping the work atmosphere apolitical and bereft of favoritism – are our goals. We believe these are more necessary than just keeping an employee ‘content’.
HOW OR WHAT YOU GIVING BACK TO SOCIETY (CSR, IF ANY)?
What we give back is to help create a better future for the marginalized and the discriminated. We are working towards mentoring & striving to provide the best environment for the right talent every single day and that is what we focus on. Talent indeed makes technology work.
WHAT ARE THE ACHIEVEMENTS AND MILESTONES OF THE COMPANY?
Every single client has come to us through word of mouth and our goodwill. We do not invest in advertising or marketing. One happy client has always led to another, and our client list is most enviable out in the market, and all our clients are long term clients.
Also, we are a bootstrap company and never went out to look for investments. All our investments have been made from internal accruals. That is one of our biggest achievements. We have even braved the unprecedented pandemic of covid and came out a winner. We did not lay off a single employee nor, did anyone have any salary cuts.
AS A CEO WHAT ARE YOUR SUGGESTIONS OR ADVICE FOR THE ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS?
If you want to be your own boss, don’t be an entrepreneur. If you want work-life balance don’t be an entrepreneur. If you are in it only for making money, don’t be an entrepreneur. If you cannot collaborate with people & deal with government authorities, don’t be an entrepreneur. If you cannot give insights into problems & find solutions every single day, don’t be an entrepreneur. If you are addicted to risk-taking or gambling, don’t be an entrepreneur. If you cannot work harder and longer than every single employee of the organization every single day, don’t be an entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurship is not a get rich quick overnight model of work, but the toughest, most demanding, gruelling, thankless, heartbreaking, backbreaking & yet at the same time, the most fulfilling, uplifting, soul-satisfying, rewarding experience you can ever have.
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR THE COMPANY?
We have no idea about what the future holds, it would be foolish to predict it. We can only hope & pray that things turn out to be good. We should only think about how prepared we are for changes that are beyond our control.
LASTLY, WHAT MESSAGE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GIVE TO THE READERS?
I am glad you picked up this magazine and pleased that my interview held your attention till the end. Keep up with your reading and some time to do that even in your busy schedule because reading is one of the best habits to have. Thank you.
