Covid-19 update: China to reopen borders & scrap quarantine for international travelers from January 2023
There is an atmosphere of panic in China due to the Corona epidemic. Infection is spreading rapidly with Omicron sub-variant BF.7. After the rapid increase in the number of patients, the health system has also collapsed.
On one hand, where Corona is wreaking havoc, on the other hand, China has decided to lift the ban on international flights, it seems that ‘of course we are in trouble, but you will also have the same fate’. The National Health Commission announced the decision late on Monday (December 26). Inbound passengers only need to submit negative test results received within 48 hours of boarding.
As long as their health declarations are normal and they do not show any symptoms of illness in “routine checks” when they meet customs, they will not be subject to any specific restrictions in the country. At present, passengers coming from outside China were kept in hotels for 5 days while in self-isolation for three days.

China had withdrawn the controversial zero covid policy in November due to heavy protests. Since then, the cases of corona are increasing rapidly in China. Even in some cities, up to 10 lakh cases are coming daily.
China to reopen borders & scrap quarantine
Till now, Five One policy was implemented in China to control the number of international passenger flights. According to this, every foreign airline will adopt only one air route in China and will operate one flight in a week. In this too, control was kept over the number of passengers. But now China has announced to end this policy as well.
However, passengers on the flight will still have to follow corona rules including masks. Data from the travel platform qunar.com showed that searches for international air tickets have increased 7 times after China announced the relaxation of Covid-19 flight restrictions. A large number of air tickets have been searched for travel to Thailand, Japan, and South Korea.
China decides to open international border
The NHC said China would also gradually reopen its water and land ports. And restrictions on outbound travel will be eased: the NHC said citizens will be allowed to travel abroad “in an orderly manner”.
Currently, China is facing a very difficult time. The tech industry in the country has been badly hit for the past few weeks and the healthcare facilities have no intention of saving the citizens from this bad time.
