DMRC services to resume as per the regular timetable on weekends from today

Metro services on weekends in Delhi will resume as per the regular timetable from January 29, officials said, citing the easing of restrictions as a result of the city’s better Covid situation. From January 8, a weekend curfew was imposed in Delhi, and services were curtailed as a result.
Given the improved Covid situation, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) agreed on Thursday to relax the weekend curfew and the odd-even method of operating non-essential shops in the city, as well as allowing restaurants, bars, cinema halls, and theatres to reopen with 50% capacity.
In the light of recent instructions of the Government for the prevention of COVID-19 in Delhi, metro services on weekends (Saturday/Sunday) will be restored as per the regular weekend timetable on all lines beginning tomorrow, i.e., January 29th, 2022, the DMRC stated in a statement.
However, due to the Beating Retreat Ceremony on Saturday, there will be a little modification in services on the Yellow Line. The DMRC has already said that metro services at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan Metro stations on Line 2 will be unavailable from 2 pm to 6:30 pm on January 29 due to the Beating Retreat ceremony.
During this time, travellers can transfer from Line 2 to Line 6 (Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh) and vice versa at the Central Secretariat metro station. At 6:30 p.m., normal service will be resumed at these stations, according to the statement. The guidelines for travel with 100 percent seating capacity and no provision for standing are still in effect. As a result, entry at stations will continue to be limited according to the ground circumstances to maintain compliance with Covidguidelines, according to the DMRC.
On Thursday, Delhi recorded 4,291 new COVID-19 cases, compared to 7,498 the day before. The optimism rate fell slightly to 9.56 percent on Thursday, down from 10.59 percent the day before.
After reaching a peak of 28,867 on January 13, the number of daily cases in Delhi has started declining. On January 14, the city reported a positive rate of 30.6 percent, the highest during the pandemic’s current wave.
