In a groundbreaking collaboration, Chinese smartphone brand Honor and luxury lifestyle brand Porsche Design have announced a global partnership aimed at merging cutting-edge innovation with premium design for smart devices. The partnership, unveiled on Thursday (December 14), promises to deliver intelligent luxury products that cater to tech enthusiasts and Porsche aficionados alike.
The announcement was made through a Weibo post by Honor, featuring a poster adorned with the logos of both brands and the tagline “Born for Pioneers.” The collaboration is set to kick off with the launch of a flagship product in China in January 2024. While the specific device’s moniker remains undisclosed, industry speculation suggests a potential co-development with Porsche Design for a variant of Honor’s upcoming Magic 6 series.
Honor CEO George Zhao expressed his excitement about the collaboration in a press release, stating, “We are honored to work with a partner like Porsche Design and to explore how openness and innovative collaboration can merge exceptional design and outstanding performance to bring state-of-the-art technology to the premium segment of smart devices.” Zhao also highlighted the alignment of Honor’s human-centric design with Porsche Design’s brand philosophy.
The partnership is poised to build on the legacy of Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the original designer of the legendary Porsche 911, as depicted in an image shared by Honor. Notably, Huawei, Honor’s former parent company, previously collaborated with Porsche Design on the Huawei Mate 40 RS and Mate 50 RS.
The eagerly anticipated jointly developed smart device by Honor and Porsche Design is scheduled for its unveiling in January 2024 in China. Sources suggest that Honor’s upcoming Magic 6 flagship series, expected to launch early next year, may feature an exclusive Porsche Design edition.
Speculations surrounding the Magic 6 lineup hint at advanced features, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC with AI integration and upgraded satellite communication capabilities. The devices are expected to showcase a unique Magic Capsule feature reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island, coupled with a powerful 160-megapixel periscope zoom camera and OmniVision’s OV50K main sensor.
The long-term collaboration between Honor and Porsche Design is anticipated to open exciting new opportunities for growth in global markets, presenting a fusion of design, performance, and technology in the premium smart device segment.
