Insights from Himanshu Laul, Rayna Tours and Travels’ Managing Director
Young entrepreneur, Himanshu Laul talks about his business journey and his current role as Rayna Tours and Travels’ Managing Director.
01. Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hi, I am Himanshu Laul. Born in 1988 in Delhi, I am an architect by training with a BArch degree from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), Roorkee. Less than a year after my graduation in 2011, I started my first business in Delhi, an art café known as Kuzart Lane.
My friend’s mother has been an amazing cook, who inspired me to debut into the world of entrepreneurship so that her culinary skills would reach out to more and more people. I am currently the Managing Director of Rayna Tours and Travels, one of the UAE’s top destination management companies.
02. How did you come to be involved with Rayna Tours and Travels?
It is due to my longtime friendship with Manoj Tulsani, CEO of Rayna Group. Since 2020, I have been a part of Rayna Tours and Travels.
03. What are the major challenges along the way, and how did you tackle them?
It was quite an impulsive decision to dip my toes into entrepreneurship. I didn’t have any work experience before starting my first business. There were knowledge and skill gaps too. However, the initial scenario was a lesson in and of itself; it taught me how important it is to effectively channel your energy and resources to build and grow every critical area of a business, such as time and financial management, marketing, sales, and so on.
04. What is your greatest achievement so far?
It would be overcoming my fear of heights with skydiving. Now I am an avid skydiver who enjoys ascending to new heights, jumping out of the plane and freefalling whenever I get the chance.
05. What advice would you give to an individual looking to excel in entrepreneurship?
Anyone can come up with a multimillion-dollar idea. While my advice is just to implement it and follow your passion, I think its success depends on how much you are focused on your business goals and how much you are disciplined and determined to work them out. Yes, you must be smart, creative, and hardworking to overcome the ongoing challenges and further survive in the industry with a loyal customer base.
06. What is Rayna Tours and Travels’ differentiating success factor?
It would be the processes or ways we carry out our business on B2B and B2C domains. With industry-leading tie-ups and dedicated teams and sections (for international visa services, all-inclusive holiday packages, logistic solutions, and cruise experiences), we can plan and micro-manage every minute element of business or leisure travel.
Moreover, there are no middlemen involved in the execution of the majority of our top-selling services, such as safaris, cruises, and luxury tours like limo rides. It results in superior service quality, high customer satisfaction levels, and immense cost savings.
07. What do you think other related service providers can learn from Rayna Tours and Travels?
What’s most important to us is to stay relevant in the industry by providing the audience with what they are looking for. We do not believe in paid pushy advertisements or marketing wars with overly promotional or unrealistic content.
Instead, we largely focus on organic marketing methods; they may demand consistent and meticulous efforts, but I guess it helps boost brand awareness and makes the business more sustainable in the long run. It not only naturally drives customers to our products and services but also allows us to build a more authentic and emotional connection with our audience.
08. What is one trend that really excites you?
The business landscape has undergone a radical change over the past few years. The outcome is that starting or running a business is easier than ever. Once you decide to take action, finding your foothold in the relevant industry is not a big deal now. It is really an exciting trend.
09. According to you, what does the future of Rayna Tours and Travels look like?
We already have a great product and service portfolio in line with industry trends that cater to every travel interest. Our main office is in Dubai, with branches in different parts of the world, including India, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. Besides expanding geographically, one of our top priorities is strengthening our presence in other verticals, such as real estate and digital marketing.
