UPSC 2024 Examination Postponed: Clash With LokSabha Elections

Union Public Service Commission has postponed the Civil Services Examination prelims date from May 26, 2024 to June 19, 2024, due to the announcement of Lok Sabha 2024 election schedule. The changes in date were made, as the date of examination was clashing with the elections schedule, which is going to be conducted in between April 19 to June 1, 2024.
Earlier UPSC also extended the registration date of CSE 2024 till March 6, 2024, and the correction window remained open till March 17, 2024 from March 7, 2024.
UPSC CSE mains is scheduled for September 20 for five days.CSE is conducted to recruit IAS,IFS,IPS, Indian Forest Services and other civil services posts.

With the current security concerns in Manipur, the Manipur government has pleaded with the Supreme Court to hold CSE prelims examination of candidates from the tribal districts outside the state, like it was conducted last year. As Imphal is the only centre in Manipur where CSE is conducted.
A total of 1206 vacancies have been announced by the commission, from which 1056 vacancies will be filled through CSE, and 150 through Indian Forest Services. About 10-12 lakh aspirants have registered for these 1056 vacancies.
