YouTube has put out a long-awaited change that will greatly benefit creators on the platform. The firm has declared that dislike numbers on videos would no longer be shown. This does not mean that users will not be able to view or use the dislike button; it only means that the dislike count will not be accessible to visitors. According to the corporation, this action will shield the artists from harassment.
Users may still use the thumbs down button on videos to privately express their displeasure with the makers. In the meanwhile, Youtubers will be able to track their dislikes in YouTube Studio, as well as other metrics about their video’s success, if they like.
People frequently use YouTube to air their grievances about actors or influencers. People from many groups push the dislike button on a video of a person they loathe in big numbers. The primary goal of such group is to increase the number of individuals who dislike them.
Users purposefully press the hate button on any video that contained famous Bollywood stars including Salman Khan or any film song from Karan Johar’s movie when the whole Bollywood was attacked after Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic death. However, things are changing on YouTube today, and for the better. The hate count, which a lot of people were hoping to see, will no longer be displayed.
We evaluated adjustments to the dislike button earlier this year to see whether they may help better protect our artists from abuse and avoid dislike assaults when people try to inflate the number of dislikes on a creator’s videos. As part of the trial, viewers will still be able to see and use the dislike button.
We noticed, however, that because the count was concealed from them, people were less likely to use the hate button on a video to boost the count. According to the YouTube site, the results of our study demonstrated a drop in dislike-attacking behaviour. Based on what we’ve learned, we’re making dislike counts private throughout YouTube, but the dislike button isn’t going away.
In a blog post, YouTube admitted that many tiny and inexperienced artists were unfairly targeted. The business verified that smaller channels had a larger incidence of online abuse.
