Mumbai has moved up to the 21st position among the most expensive cities for expats in Asia, while Delhi is ranked 30th.
Mumbai has been declared India’s most expensive city for expatriates, the city has consistently topped the list of Indian cities since the survey began in 2013. Globally, Mumbai has jumped 11 places compared to last year, ranking 136th out of 226 cities surveyed. The top 10 most expensive cities in the world include Hong Kong, Singapore, Zurich, Geneva, Bern, New York City, London, Nassau and Los Angeles. Other Indian cities in the top 20 are New Delhi (164th), Chennai (189th) and Bengaluru (195th), while Hyderabad is ranked 202nd, Pune 205th and Kolkata 207th.

Mumbai and Pune lead in energy and utility costs, according to the survey. Mumbai also tops the list for transportation expenses, followed by Bengaluru. Alcohol and tobacco are the least expensive in Delhi and most expensive in Chennai.
In the complete list, Mumbai is now ranked as the 21st most expensive city for expats in Asia, while Delhi holds the 30th position.
