Elon Musk Applauds Vivek Ramaswamy as Strong Contender in US Presidential Race
Written by Sanjay Kumar
Tesla CEO Elon Musk endorsed entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy as a potential contender for the 2024 US presidential election. Musk’s endorsement was prompted by a video clip of Ramaswamy shared on X (formerly Twitter) during Tucker Carlson’s online show.
Expressing his support, Elon Musk stated, “He is a highly promising candidate,” in a post on X. Musk’s comments followed Tucker Carlson’s introduction of Ramaswamy’s video with the words, “Vivek Ramaswamy is the youngest Republican presidential candidate ever. He’s worth listening to.”
Vivek Ramaswamy is gaining ground in the Republican presidential race, positioning himself as a strong contender for the second spot after the Florida governor. However, associates of Ron DeSantis, the Florida governor, view Ramaswamy as potentially vulnerable due to his connections to China and his openness to participating in a trans-Pacific trade agreement. This perspective was detailed in a report by Bloomberg.
The outlined strategy for attacking Ramaswamy is part of a collection of documents focused on the GOP candidates who will be competing against DeSantis in the upcoming first Republican presidential primary debate scheduled to take place in Milwaukee on August 23.
Interestingly, the documents do not mention any specific information about Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination and the former president. Trump has hinted at the possibility of skipping the first debate, citing his significant lead over DeSantis and the other candidates in various polls. This information is based on reports from Bloomberg.
The documents highlight that in 2018, while serving as the CEO of Roivant Sciences, Ramaswamy collaborated with a state-owned Chinese firm to establish a new company called Sinovant Sciences. Furthermore, the documents point out that Ramaswamy was a keynote speaker at a conference in China.
The documents also draw attention to Ramaswamy’s stances on issues such as abortion and drug policy, connecting him to Democratic financier George Soros, a common target for Republicans. Ramaswamy was the recipient of a Soros fellowship for new Americans more than ten years ago.
Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur in the technology sector and the son of Indian immigrants, entered the Republican presidential nomination race as an outsider but has managed to climb to the third position in the rankings.
According to a Reuters-Ipsos poll, Ramaswamy has the support of 9% of Republican leaders, while former President Donald Trump maintains a commanding lead with 47%. Following Trump is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 19% support.
Ramaswamy’s campaign centers around his vision for innovative drug development and a transformation of the healthcare system, with a pledge to restore meritocracy and decrease dependence on China.
Notably, Ramaswamy managed to raise an impressive $7.7 million in the second quarter, with $5.4 million of that coming from his personal funds. Since launching his campaign, he has invested a total of $16 million into his presidential bid.
