‘I-DEEA’ FOR AMUSEMENT PARKS
BRINGING MORE JOY THROUGH YOUR SENSES
Innovators have the superpower to look beyond what is established and introduce new ideas, methods, or products to the world. Fintech and Digital Banking leader Vivek Dubey is one such visionary and innovator. He specializes in FinTech and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and has four patent grants to his name. His work introduces innovative solutions to problems across different areas, including social work.
Amusement parks worldwide have mastered the art of indulging the human senses. However, there is always room for improvement to make these experiences more immersive. Amusement parks stimulate the visitors’ senses of vision, hearing, and touch to engage them. Unfortunately, the entertainment industry, in general, has not been able to leverage scents and odors to reach their full potential.
In the past, movies like “Behind the Great Wall,” released in 1959, and “Scent of Mystery,” released in 1960, tried to establish a connection between motion picture, sound, and perfume. While the intent was good and the thought impressive and artistic, it missed precision in execution. The scents got released inside movie theaters, but their coordination with the scenes was not up to the mark.
Vivek Dubey has worked on an idea that could solve this coordination issue and bring some scents back into the picture. It encompasses technology usage and approach, along with the process of execution. It combines Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), the Internet of Things (IoT), Holographic Techniques, and AromaRama/Smell-O-Vision techniques with AI. Vivek named it “Interactive Digital Entertainment Ecosystem Autonomous” or “I-DEEA.” His patent I-DEEA has numerous use cases and could be a perfect fit for amusement parks.
I-DEEA involves an autonomous system that uses AI to process image cues and IoT sensors to receive signals and release scents and odors. The AI also captures the audience’s facial expressions and calculates their perfume acceptance levels. In addition, it utilizes Holographic Technique to create holographic images during specific moments when the audience shows maximum acceptance and appreciation to keep their enthusiasm at its peak. The setup also involves the use of olfactometers and neutralizers.
Amusement Parks, such as Disney World, Universal Studios, and Legoland, could greatly benefit from Vivek’s patented technology. Their adoption could transform the amusement park experience forever to bring about a new revolution in their industry, and the first movers could have an advantage. Amusement Parks have a lot of things going about in different sections. The scents could help evoke feelings, such as nostalgia, attract people to various zones, and enhance the experiences.
Speaking about his work I-DEEA, Vivek shared, “I feel businesses should not just replicate existing business models. It is no longer durable. Instead, they need to take some risks, challenge the usual ways of business and make their offerings global and revolutionary. I have tried to achieve this with I-DEEA, and I hope it helps entertainment businesses leap into the future. In business, innovation means growth. It is an opportunity to stand out and stay ahead of others.”
Vivek’s I-DEEA also finds use cases in various other domains, including children’s movies and education. The scents add an extra dimension to entertainment and learning, attracting people, especially children, and resulting in the whole family’s involvement. Well-blended perfumes can also be used in mind-relaxing and rejuvenating movies, along with spiritual market music for better responses and to make the audiences feel happy and relaxed.
Outside of the entertainment industry, I-DEEA finds application in the perfume industry. Brands can get realtime public opinion on perfumes at new launches and stores. People’s reactions get recorded on cameras, and they can be later studied with the help of algorithms to capture the public sentiment. The technology can also be used alongside holographic techniques in advertising and political shows to evoke emotion and get better engagement.
Vivek’s patents include PanCon Tech (Pandemic Control Technology), which is in the fields of epidemic detection and control. It involves using a new-age technology stack, including AI, IoT, Cloud, AR, Extended Reality, and Holographic technology redefining Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) economy platform, another one of his works, is aimed at ensuring the financial inclusion of migrants. Made for financial institutions, his other patent is a system to predict regulatory penalties and provide an escalation mechanism.
Vivek has authored two books and written seven whitepapers and research papers in international SCOPUS journals. His book ‘The Journey of RegTech’ is among the top 20 best FinTech recommended books. In addition, Vivek is a recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award by the South Asia Management Association in 2021 for his Fintech Innovations.
